Hello everyone! As you can see, I’m a little behind on the podcast, I’m currently listening to this episode.
I just listened to the review of When Evil lurks and I heard that maybe my opinion could contribute a little more since I’m from Argentina and maybe things get lost in translation.

I’m going to speak with spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I recommend you don’t read what I’m about to write.

My way of seeing the apparitions is the one that Dave Zee comments, I think that this evil manifests itself in ways that perhaps we do not understand and that are terrifying to us, but I do not believe that precisely those who “return” are regenerated. Something that the film says is that this evil has a very great affinity with children, and that’s why the ones who are manipulated are always the children: the girl with the dog, Pedro’s son, the children at school, even the boy who kills his mother and prevents the “cleaner” from taking care of his brother Uriel. the incarnate.

I think it’s a movie that has a big mystery that we’re not seeing. On my second viewing, I noticed that Jimmy (Pedro’s younger brother) sees a bullet in the truck where they are taking the incarnate (at the moment they lose him on the road). This bullet ends up in the brothers’ house, it appears in a scene that Jimmy is cleaning it.
Now, when the boy (uriel’s brother) visits the brothers’ house to ask them to let him spend the night there because he was afraid, they take out a gun from him and from that gun they take out 4 bullets, I estimate that one had been used to kill his mother.
Ok, towards the end of the movie, there’s a shot of the door of the house and the table, where you see 4 bullets sitting there. Then, a bullet is missing (there were 4 that they take from the child and one that Jimmy takes from the truck where the incarnate was riding).
My theory is, that bullet missing from the table is the one from the truck, so Jimmy is responsible for bringing evil into the house.
Why do I say this? One of the rules is that they have to burn the clothes and everything that has had contact with an incarnate, this bullet in the truck was full of pus. This action ends up in Peter’s son killing his grandmother. And I could raise the stakes by saying that Jimmy’s responsibility was an influence of this evil that was applied to Jimmy from a young age.
I say this because it is implied that perhaps there was an illegal affair between Jimmy and his teacher, who during the film let us know that Jimmy’s teacher also had contact with this evil for a long time, since she and her husband were a kind of hunters. So I say, could it be that Jimmy moved with some influence implanted as a young man and that this triggered the whole event?
Anyway, it’s my favorite movie of this year and I think it has a lot of layers that need to be opened up.
I hope the translation is clear and not broken, i wrote this in spanish and translate it with google. I have no problem listening, but i suck at writing or speaking english.
I hope I haven’t stretched too much, I’m still listening to the chapter. Greetings to all the Avengers!

Everyone rated When Evil Lurks too low (but it’s my own fault for not being there to defend my 10/10 rating), but I really loved Greg’s coverage of The Thing from Another World. A true masterpiece, and one that I have taught in class before to a surprisingly positive reception. Nothing beats a vampiric carrot from outer space!

OK, so I let it go on the last episode where Ron Martin praised Bodies Bodies Bodies while talking down Midsommar, but there’s so much wrong with his Halloween mythbusting segment that I have a hard time knowing where to begin…

So we’ll start with something easy. It wasn’t ever “H-twenty,” it was always “H-two-oh.” Don’t believe me? Check the original trailer:

Wow so funny! We were discussing this in our group chat and I said the exact same thing about it always being called H-two-oh as well lol

But their rebuttal was maybe the people who put together the trailer aren’t interested and don’t care. But I also remember seeing it discussed a few months before it was released on Entertainment Tonight and they said it the same way even inferring that it was a play on Age 2-0 as in 20 years.

Great podcast. I enjoyed all the “new” peeps talking about the current shows. I love horror movies and I have watched several shows recommended on this podcast. Just a few things about me, I am a graduate of SUU and have worked on SUU’s campus for 34 years. I enjoy listening to Dr Walking Dead’s reviews as I am mostly a Zombie fan. Thanks for the podcast and I hope for continued success.

Happy Halloween, gents! It’s gonna take me a while to make it through this one, but I can definitely agree that When Evil Lurks is well worth the watch. That dog sequence had me saying “oh SH__!!” out loud in the theater when it happened.
